Vale of Pnath first caught my attention fairly recently when I discovered their debut, The Prodigal Empire.It was a technical death metal album for sure, following the same path as other groups that added a melodic spin on Necrophagist’s sound such as Obscura or Beyond Creation.

Now that the dust has settled after line-up changes over the years, Vale of Pnath are back with a new EP Accursed aiming to prove they can still kick your eardrums in. Its categorization as an EP and its length may be confusing, since it contains seven songs, which some bands would call a full album. Vale Of Pnath – Accursed EP. Over the past few years Colorado hyperspeed tech-death group Vale Of Pnath have developed one of the more fluid lineups out there, with a constantly shifting membership surrounding one main core. Much as a river flows around a stone in the center of it, so too do band members in Vale Of Pnath seem to flow in and out of the lineup. Vale of Pnath will certainly not disappoint and I expect this release to draw in not only tech-death fans but also those who are keen on more straightforward stuff because despite it’s intricacy, versatility, progressive twists and complex shape shifting songs, this thing really hooks you and hits you in the face.
